Dr. Jitendra Sangwai is Professor of Chemical Engineering at IIT Madras, with over 21 years of academic and industrial experience, including work at Schlumberger on flow assurance and petroleum engineering projects. His research focuses on carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), geo-energy, gas hydrates, enhanced oil recovery, subsurface mechanics, and flow assurance. He has published extensively in leading international journals, holds 15 patents, and serves as Associate Editor of Energy & Fuels. His distinguished honours include Fellowships of the National Academy of Sciences, India (2025) and the Indian National Academy of Engineering (2024), the National Geoscience Award, the SPE Regional Technical Award (2022), recognition among the Top 3% Highly Cited ACS Authors from India, and several national and institutional awards for research and technology innovation.
