Professor Ashutosh Sharma is a distinguished Indian chemical engineer, nanoscientist, academic, and science policy leader. He was awarded the Padma Shri (2025) for his outstanding contributions to Science and Engineering. Currently, he serves as Institute Chair Professor and C.V. Seshadri Chair Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Kanpur and was President of the Indian National Science Academy (2023–25). His numerous honours include the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (2002), the inaugural Infosys Prize in Engineering and Computer Science (2010), the UNESCO Medal for Contributions to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2017), the TWAS Prize (2008), the J.C. Bose National Fellowship, the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award, and several other prestigious recognitions, including six honorary D.Sc. degrees from universities in India and the United States.
